A Question on Salmonella

Chicken Caesar SaladWhat is the best course of action to take after getting salmonella food poisoning? Jenny had a caesar salad from Beyond Bread (the one on Speedway) yesterday. And then she felt like death for almost 20 hours.

Should we alert them? Should we sue them? Or is it so common that we should just not care? It’s not like she intentionally ordered raw food. She ordered a chicken caesar salad. The chicken appeared cooked, but if it wasn’t, that’s the fault of Beyond Bread. The other possibility is that they use raw eggs in their ceaser dressing, which I will protest if I find to be true.

The other half of the salad is sitting in our fridge, mocking us with its bacterial appendages.

  1. put your trust in the flying salmonella monster. stop kicking against the goads. his bacterial appendages reach even me – the greatest of all sanitized.

my vote: sue while you can, not everyone has that kind of chance – don’t waste it.

  2. You should call your county health department first. They investigate food poisoning outbreaks. You should also ask them if anyone else got sick after eating there.

Hopefully it wasn’t Beyond Bread’s fault—lots of food poisoning cases come from contaminated vegetables that are eaten raw, like say, lettuce. In that case, Beyond Bread needs to find a new supplier.

In any case, let us know the results. Food poisoning is so, so rotten for the person who’s throwing up every twenty minutes. Take care of Jenny, and I hope she’s recovered by now.
