Adventures in China: Day 2

Day 2: Exploring Huizhou

Phil had to head over to the theater with the tech crew, but I was free to explore. A group of us headed out!

We walked around for several hours exploring and having a very fun time. We were the ONLY Westerners in town, so we were quite the spectacle. Huizhou is considered a pretty small town (oh, only a couple million people or so) and not a tourist attraction.

But we found plenty of fun things along the way!

Like …

A steampunk bass …

Misspelled English …

An authentic market (really smelly too!) …

A walkway with pretty views …

Toys … (See that man walking in the background? Yeah, I kinda shot at Ken and hit him instead. He thought it was really funny. Whew!)

Stopping in for some tea, waiting for the rain to slow down …

The final part of the day was going to the Chinese opera house for the Huizhou Arts and Culture Center. We were told these structures were beautiful but that was an understatement! They also keep them very clean. Like, they have people standing around all day just to make sure no one comes in and sits in a chair or dirties the immaculate floors.

And that was our very full day in Huizhou. We went to dinner and then collapsed into bed. Tomorrow we leave for Dongguan.

  1. I love your updates! Your photos are great. I miss the fresh food markets. They are smelly, but the food is delicious!
